Pressure with purpose

Deep does not mean painful. It means precise.

Deep tissue massage works the deeper muscle layers and the fascia around them with slow strokes and sustained pressure. It is the modality we use for chronic neck and shoulder tension, low back tightness, athletes in training, and anyone who sits at a desk all day. Done well, it should feel like relief, not punishment, and the soreness the next day should be mild.

Our Deep Recovery Therapeutic massage pairs deep tissue technique with Sweet Birch, Arnica, and Magnesium to calm the tissue as it is worked. Prefer a mix? Add the Deep Tissue Upgrade to any massage on the massage menu.

Why here

Bodywork, not background music.

Every massage begins with a check-in and our signature opening ritual, then your therapist adjusts pressure area by area. Our therapists are licensed, experienced, and trained to work deep without bracing the body against them.

What makes it different

Deep, slow, and listened to.

A check-in first. You tell us where it hurts and how deep you like it. The session is built around that, not a script.

Slow strokes, warm tissue. We warm the muscle before we go deep, so the body lets us in instead of bracing.

Botanicals that help. Sweet Birch, Arnica, and Magnesium calm the tissue as it is worked and ease next-day soreness.

Pressure you control. Say the word and it changes. Deep tissue should never be endured.

Frequently asked

Good to know.

What is the difference between deep tissue and Swedish massage?

Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes for relaxation and circulation. Deep tissue uses slower strokes and sustained pressure to reach the deeper muscle layers and fascia, which is better for chronic tension, knots, and recovery.

Will deep tissue massage hurt?

It should feel intense in places but never sharp or unbearable. Your therapist checks in on pressure throughout, and you can ask for more or less at any point. Mild soreness the next day is normal and fades within a day or two.

How often should I get a deep tissue massage?

For chronic tension or athletic training, every two to four weeks. For maintenance, monthly. Many of our members keep a standing massage appointment for this reason.

How much is a deep tissue massage in Orange County?

At Lemon & Honey the Deep Recovery Therapeutic massage is $240 for 50 minutes and $265 for 70 minutes. You can also add the Deep Tissue Upgrade to any massage for $30. Members save 20% to 30%.

Should I drink water after a deep tissue massage?

Yes. Water, a warm shower or bath, and gentle movement all help the muscles recover. Avoid an intense workout the same day.
